Vision for India at 100!

[India](https://www.india.gov.in/) is celebrating [Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav](https://amritmahotsav.nic.in/) on completing 75 years of [independence](https://academic.oup.com/book/9049) from the [British Raj](https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1853/06/25.htm). [Freedom](https://www.telesurenglish.net/news/5-Ways-the-British-Empire-Ruthlessly-Exploited-India-20170425-0033.html) is the most cherished virtue of all living beings. Therefore, the [Amrit Mahotsav celebration](https://amritmahotsav.nic.in/) is imperative. The census is conducted at the beginning of a decade in [India](https://knowindia.india.gov.in/). According to the [1951 census](https://censusindia.gov.in/census.website/), the literacy rate was 18.33%, with a 12.3% gap in [gender literacy](https://www.theglobalstatistics.com/literacy-rate-in-india/). With this poor literacy, [India](https://india.india.gov.in/) won its [independence](https://www.un.org/dppa/decolonization/en/about). With the current 77% literacy rate, setting a [vision to celebrate 100 years of independence](https://www.mygov.in/mygov-survey/consultation-vision-india2047/) with a 100% literacy rate is challenging. In the 21st century, [knowledge](https://incipientinfo.com/discoveries-by-ancient-indian-science-that-would-make-you-feel-proud/) has emerged as the most powerful tool for [empowerment](https://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2013/9/ed-speech-knowledge-gateway). To balance the rights and duties of citizens, the [Constitution of India](https://www.india.gov.in/my-government/constitution-india) provides [fundamental rights](https://www.constitutionofindia.net/constitution_of_india/fundamental_rights/articles) alongside the [directive principles](https://www.legalserviceindia.com/legal/article-916-directive-principles-of-state-policy-dpsps-.html). The [Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav](https://amritmahotsav.nic.in/) is in its concluding days as India, proudly also known as [Bharat](https://www.newsgram.com/general/2016/05/01/the-history-behind-india-being-officially-known-as-bharat), is just two weeks away from the next Independence Day on August 15th. At the dawn of an Independent India, literacy was one of the foremost challenges. After reaching the 75% literacy rate, it is high time to make citizens [law-literate](https://www.livelaw.in/columns/ignorance-of-law-in-india-ignorantia-juris-non-excusat-175823?from-login=305878). It would help shed darkness and opacity from our public governance system, under which corruption like evil flourishes and public money is looted. The sufferings of millions of Indians would not end until a high [legal literacy](https://www.livelaw.in/columns/justice-am-khanwilkars-legacy-regression-of-fundamental-rights-205206?utm_source=internal-artice&utm_medium=also-read) rate is achieved. May the mission [Legal Litracy](https://doj.gov.in/legal-literacy-and-legal-awareness-programme-lllp/) revolutionise the [largest democracy](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/10/22/the-worlds-7-largest-democracies-where-do-america-and-india-fit/) in establishing [Democracy2.0](https://www.academia.edu/35994735/Democracy_2_0_Media_Political_Literacy_and_Critical_Engagement).[ ](<#India is celebrating #AazadikaAmritMahotsav on completing 75 years of #independence from British Raj. #Freedom is the most cherished virtue of all the living beings. Therefore, celebration of #AmritMahotsav is imperative. 

The census happens in the first year of the beginning of a decade in India. According to the census of 1951, the literacy rate was merely 18.33% with 12.3% gap in gender literacy rate. With this poor literacy, #India win her independence. 

With the present 77% literacy rate, the challenges are many to set the vision for celebrating 100 years of independencewith 100% literacy rate. In the 21st century, knowledge has emerged the most powerful #empowerment tool.To balance the rights and duties of the citizens, the Constitution of India provides the fundamental rights with the directive principles.

The #AazadikaAmritMahotsav is in its concluding days as India, proudly also known as Bharat, is just two weeks away from next independence day on August 15th. At the dawn of an Independent India, literacy was one of the foremost challenge. After crossing 75% literacy rate, it is high time to make the citizens law literate. It would be helpful in shedding darkness and opaqueness from our public governance system under which corruption like evils cultivate and public money get looted. The sufferings of millions of Indians would not end until the high legal literacy rate is achieved.
